Note About rec.pets.dogs.*

First, please note that all the groups under rec.pets.dogs.* are PUBLIC, with the exception of rec.pets.dogs.info, which is reserved for posting RPD's many FAQ's. Anyone may freely post to any of the other groups. If you're confused about which groups are for what, there is also a weekly posted list of charters, which you should look at.

If a file is listed here, it may be posted to rec.pets.dogs.info. If it is not posted, you can contact me for information on how to do so. If you have something that you regularly post to the other rec.pets.dogs.* groups not listed here, and you think it should be, again, please contact me. You can do so by simply replying to this message.

Official FAQ's for rec.pets.dogs.*

("Official" simply means that the faqs are crossposted to news.answers and automatically archived at rtfm.mit.edu.)

There are a number of monthly posted FAQ files that deal with dogs in general. There are, in addition, many breed specific FAQs, and one on fleas and ticks and another on dealing with the loss of a pet. I maintain all of these FAQ's except for the two FAQ's on Rescue organizations, and some of the breed faqs. For questions on the latter two, contact Janice Ritter at ritter@aolnorth.com who currently maintains them.

These faqs are written by different readers of RPD who have experience with the breed in question. While in many cases (not all!) I post them. you should direct any questions to the authors of the FAQ rather than automatically to me.

You are encouraged to volunteer to write new breed faqs, please contact me at rpd-info@netcom.com for details. I am happy to help you archive the faqs properly; however, you may decide to do it yourself or keep them offical; whatever. Please do let me know about it, though, so I can list it here.
